Beach Play is one of favorite things to do in Santa Cruz County . This photo is one of the more colorful beach resorts on the sand at Capitola Beach. The beach is over 135 years old. It has grown from a campground to one of the more popular beach towns in Northern California. It is a small beach town on the Pacific tucked away a few miles south of Santa Cruz off highway One. It is located on the north end of Monterey Bay about a 2 hour drive south of San Francisco. This charming coastal village is small, and parking can be tight, but it is full of little quaint shops and local restaurants that give this beach town a wonderful character. The town has a nearby pier, a small family friendly beach, and small rolling waves. Capitola is a perfect place for a cozy weekend getaway. The weather is mild throughout the year, with cool and wet winters, fog in the summer mornings, and mostly sunny and dry summers. I ventured out West in the early 70's. After several trips to Northern Arizona with it's Majestic Skies, Red Rocks, and wide open spaces, I realized I wanted to settle here. Well, Fate came into the picture and numerous stops came along. I ventured to San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Oregon, Utah, Northern and Southern California, and even Southern Arizona. Yet , I felt unsettled looking for home to sink roots. Finally Sedona tugged hard , and I settled here in the mid 90's and rediscovered my sense of Gratitude and Enjoyment. Well I,m mostly retired now, traveling more, and have relocated in an old mining town in the Sierras; Time for change; new areas to explore. In Nature, I find that feeling of Peacefulness and Stillness. I hope...
