I captured this image mid afternoon. At certain seasons the moon rises early. There is great visibility most of the year. The cloud banks and shadow of the wild turkey made for a classic image in Uptown Sedona in Northern Arizona's red rock country. Just north of Sedona in Arizona, is about 12 miles of beauty. The drive has streams, and sometimes waterfalls between beautiful red rock walls full of spectacular switchbacks, and scenery that is tough to top. The depth of the Oak Creek Canyon ranges between 800 to 2000 feet. Sedona is the second most popular destination in Arizona with visitors. One look , and you will understand why. The canyon is serene, calling, and calming. Oak Creek, a tributary of the Verde River, flows along the bottom of the canyon, and is always flowing here in the high desert of Northern Arizona. The creek is primarily responsible for carving this majestic masterpiece of nature, although movement along the Oak Creek Fault is believed to have had a role as...
About Tom Kelly
I ventured out West in the early 70's. After several trips to Northern Arizona with it's Majestic Skies, Red Rocks, and wide open spaces, I realized I wanted to settle here. Well, Fate came into the picture and numerous stops came along. I ventured to San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Oregon, Utah, Northern and Southern California, and even Southern Arizona. Yet , I felt unsettled looking for home to sink roots. Finally Sedona tugged hard , and I settled here in the mid 90's and rediscovered my sense of Gratitude and Enjoyment. Well I,m mostly retired now, traveling more, and have relocated in an old mining town in the Sierras; Time for change; new areas to explore. In Nature, I find that feeling of Peacefulness and Stillness. I hope...
