Description
A summer,s drive in July gave us this wonderful view of wildflowers in the Big Sur area of California's famous highway 1. This coastal area situated right along the Pacific coastline offers outstanding views of the wild surf, numerous birds, and wildlife, and many crags and crevices surrounded by redwoods in California. This Monterey county treat lies south of Carmel along Highway one as it twists and turns for many miles. Big Sur is a special place to unwind, with woods, water, ocean, at your beckon and call. There are numerous places, and many state parks to hike, explore, camp, and enjoy. This seacoast area offers almost 90 miles of ragged coastline, wild surf, and wildlife like sea otters, as well as solitude to think it through. Two state parks not to miss include Julia Pfeiffer Burns, with McWay Falls which empties on the beach of aqua blue waters, and Garrapata State Park Beach which has many outstanding hiking trails and some of the best photography to offer. Hiking is the order of the day, so make sure you bring good shoes, a walking stick, lots of water, and memory cards and a polarizer, if you enjoy photography. In winter time you can sometimes spot whales migrating along the cragy pacific coastline. Big Sur will enchant you and call you back with wildflowers, Redwoods, and wonderful climate.
