In Late Winter, I was visiting the coast near Bodega Bay, and I came across the Bodega Bay Coastal Trail. What a delight it was. This loop is a little over a mile long, and an easy walk along a saltwater marsh just north of Doran Regional Park and offers excellent bird-watching. The trail circles two freshwater ponds along Bodega Harbor and overlooks marshland that provides year-round habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds and songbirds.
The trail is gravel, generally flat, and moderately accessible for wheelchairs. It also connects to Doran Regional Park via a pedestrian bridge and the Cheney Creek Trail. Parking is available in a lot along Highway 1.
I ventured out West in the early 70's. After several trips to Northern Arizona with it's Majestic Skies, Red Rocks, and wide open spaces, I realized I wanted to settle here. Well, Fate came into the picture and numerous stops came along. I ventured to San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Oregon, Utah, Northern and Southern California, and even Southern Arizona. Yet , I felt unsettled looking for home to sink roots. Finally Sedona tugged hard , and I settled here in the mid 90's and rediscovered my sense of Gratitude and Enjoyment. Well I,m mostly retired now, traveling more, and have relocated in an old mining town in the Sierras; Time for change; new areas to explore.
