Description
Cathedral Rock is an incredible red rock masterpiece that stands alone as one of the most Loved places in Sedona's red rock country. It is a beauty of red rock sandstone, weathered by time and the elements that awaits you in Sedona, Arizona
In Sedona’s magnificent red rock country, Cathedral Rock a stunning masterpiece of breathtaking red rock monolith will touch your heart, and calm your inner self. One of the wonderful things about this beauty of nature, is it's ability to charm you with its shadows, reflections, and variety of colors. When the light hits Cathedral, one of the most visited spots of Sedona, it glows and the red and orange sandstones are nature in the raw. In the dry and arid conditions of northern Arizona, the light is always changing. Sedona is second only to the Grand Canyon in visitors. Whether you climb the face of Cathedral on the east side to the notch, or approach it thru Red Rock Crossing on the west side, the views are splendid and inspiring. Both sides give you access to the creek that flows at its’ base with many folks enjoying the cooling waters of Oak Creek at the crossing. The Red Rocks are a mixture of red and orange sandstones called the Schnebly Hill Formation. This formation is found primarily in the Sedona area. The Sandstones was deposited here about 250 to 300 million years ago. My favorite time of the day to visit Cathedral is between 3 to 6 in the summer and later on shorter days. Whether you are looking for a easy or strenuous hike, some mountain biking, awesome photography, or a serene, calming place to reach your inner self, Cathedral Rock is a great place to start or finish

Hi Tom; I just love this image. As I have said before in previous messages, Sedona is one of my favorites spots on earth, and Cathedral Rock is my absolute favorite spot in Sedona. I almost got arrested the last time for trying to capture the perfect image of Cathedral Rock (a long story perhaps for another time). And I have to admit, I spent hours driving around and walking about just to find this scene with the reflection in the water, but just couldn't find it. I would go there again just to get an image as beautiful as this one. Very well done. Perfection at its best.

Picturesque beauty at its finest, Tom. Cathedral Rock is my favorite spot in Sedona. Capturing it in snow and fall as here just multiplies its beauty. Your Sedona gallery is world class Tom! ................FAV / LIKE
