Description
This summer we just completed an awesome photo trip to Northern Oregon. As the sun was setting at Ecola State Park, it broke thru the clouds, and rewarded this couple on the bench patiently waiting. As the moment opened up, I was like a kid in a candy shop. Tillamook Rock Lighthouse has a 62 foot high tower, and stands 133 feet above sea level on a basalt rock. Its nickname was " Terrible Tilly". The name came from its exposure to fierce storm waves. It was commissioned in 1881 to help guide ships entering the Columbia River, it was replaced by a whistle buoy in 1957. There is no public access. It remains a momument to days gone past!
