As I was returning from Southern Arizona awhile back, with the wind kicking up, the light started to hit that magic hour, and Chicken Point and the Chapel just lit up. This area is very enchanting with great views, and wide open spaces. This area is very popular with locals as well as tourists alike as it is located at the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a must visit place when you come to Sedona's famous red rock country. Chicken Point is located about halfway between the Uptown area of Sedona, and our sister town; the Village of Oak Creek. From I -17 north take exit 298 and go about 12 miles and look for the chapel roundabout. Note , this is about 3 to 4 miles past Bell Rock, one of our famous vortex areas. If you forgot you hiking or photo gear, then no worries as we have 3 wonderful hiking stores in Sedona, The Hike House, Canyon Outfitters, and in Uptown , Sedona Outdoors. I ventured out West in the early 70's. After several trips to Northern Arizona with it's Majestic Skies, Red Rocks, and wide open spaces, I realized I wanted to settle here. Well, Fate came into the picture and numerous stops came along. I ventured to San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Oregon, Utah, Northern and Southern California, and even Southern Arizona. Yet , I felt unsettled looking for home to sink roots. Finally Sedona tugged hard , and I settled here in the mid 90's and rediscovered my sense of Gratitude and Enjoyment. Well I,m mostly retired now, traveling more, and have relocated in an old mining town in the Sierras; Time for change; new areas to explore.
